The term Vasthu is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Vas’ which means ‘to dwell’ and ‘Shastra’ which means ‘Science’; thus ‘Vasthu Shastra’ is the science of planning and constructing dwelling places. Earth, water, fire, air and sky are the Panchabhutas, the five elements that make up our world and Vasthu deals with the alignment of these elements based on the laws of nature called Navagraha Surya (the Sun), Chandra (the Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (north lunar node), Ketu (south lunar node). There is Vasthu for land and Vasthu for building. Vasthu for land deals with spaces allotted for agriculture, rearing of animals or bird, etc. Vasthu for building deals with the buildings such as our homes or commercial buildings. When we construct something, it should be in accordance with the laws of nature. Otherwise, it causes obstruction in the natural energy flow and cause may cause damage to our health and wealth. Ill luck caused by the fault in Vasthu will make the lives of the inhabitants miserable. The ill luck can only be removed by God’s grace and correcting the Vasthu.
Homes and other buildings should be made in such a way that it does not hinder the balance of the nature. The science of Vasthu is based on the influence of the sun and the magnetic fields on earth and living bodies, both physically and mentally. Hence, the science of Vasthu is universal and people of any religion can follow it to achieve prosperity. The home made against the rules of Vasthu is considered as a lifeless body according to the Vedas. Hence, extreme care should be taken to consult an expert in Vasthu Shastra, an architect or building designer to plan your home or commercial building. Frauds who have meager knowledge about Vasthu Shastra just by reading the cheap books available from streets are to be identified and eluded.
